The Great Glenorchy Alpine Basecamp is a business we at Zoë and Morgan LOVE. Created by the talented and creative couple Liz and Doug, they’ve dreamed up adventures and get away packages. From a weekend away to relax and enjoy all the wood fires, stylish cabins, sauna, Liz’s special long dinners, and the energy of the snow capped mountains, and clean waters, through to a wilderness adventure that can be as big as your imagination.
Our whanau opted for a one day adventure – the falling waters hike, suitable for our tribe. We had a delightful guide who is also a beekeeper and nature enthusiast, who pulled out hot soup and a yummy lunch with a brilliant view over the valley for a luxury hiking experience which our teenagers absolutely loved too.
Getting to our hike was an adventure in itself, with their discovery vehicles driving us through rivers and over beautiful stones and quarts.
The Great Glenorchy Alpine Basecamp is a wonderful place to absorb the beauty that Glenorchy and the surrounding area offers, we’re already planning our next trip back. For any friends planning their school holidays, time to rest or explore – this is the spot.
