Tell our community a bit about yourself and Jay and how you both met.
Jimmy: Years ago, I managed a tattoo studio called Two Hands Tattoo. Years later I ended up stepping back into my old role temporarily. During that time, Jay, (who is a tattoo artist) joined us for a couple of days as a guest artist. My colleague (a mutual friend of both Jay and I) suggested we go to breakfast on Jay’s first day. From the moment we met, I felt an instant connection with Jay, like he had always been a part of my life - or was always meant to be. Fast forward a few years, we went on our first date, and I haven’t left his side since.
Jay: I was on my first guest spot at Two Hands Tattoo, up from Raglan and very nervous to be working at such a renowned shop. A close friend of mine introduced me to Jimmy; I remember being so swept away by her infectious personality and being so in awe of her. I instantly felt so connected to her and so at home, while being so out of my comfort zone. A few years later we went on a date and never stopped! It always makes me smile whenever I think of it.
What are the qualities you admire most in each other?
Jimmy: Jay has always felt like home. His calm presence effortlessly puts me at ease, and he’s always going out of his way to make me feel supported. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, he has the ability to make me laugh. He’s also incredibly creative and talented - his artistry and ability in all areas is something I’ve always admired and watching him thrive in these spaces. And of course, he’s got a face that’s truly beautiful. What I admire most, though, is how deeply he cares for everyone in his life - his close bond with his family is something I truly respect and cherish.
Jay: I really love that we both understand each other so well, it’s like our minds are one a lot of the time. Jimmy’s sense of humour is wonderful as well as her magnificent personality. She lights up the room with her presence. I love how she can see me for me And always make me feel so loved. She has a beautiful creative mind and makes incredible pottery, although she is good at everything she tries. She’s also the most gorgeous girl in the world.
What part of the wedding planning process are you most excited about and not looking forward to? Are there any traditions that you want to incorporate into this day?
Jimmy: I’m beyond excited to see Jay in his kilt and to get dressed up myself - surrounded by all of our nearest and dearest sharing good food and champagne! The thing I am least looking forward to is the challenge of creating our dream day with a limited budget, which is also so exciting as it allows us to get creative!
Jay: I can’t wait to see my beautiful fiancé in her dress for the first time, and to celebrate our love with our close friends and family. It’s really exciting figuring things out together and incorporating important sentiments from both of our lives into one special day. I’ve found out it’s a big process but I know it will all come together great. I’ll be wearing my traditional Scottish attire on the day which is pretty cool to me
