Reflecting on 20 Years of Jewellery

Celebrating our 20th Anniversary has given us plenty to reflect and the wonderful team at MiNDFOOD has captured it all in a special anniversary feature. We’re excited to share their article here and celebrate how far we’ve come together.

Zoe & Morgan Founders Reflect On Special Jewellery Creations As They Hit 20 Years

Originally published by MiNDFOOD, November 3 2025.

We've long had a special spot in our hearts (and our jewellery boxes) for Zoe & Morgan jewellery.

The Aotearoa brand founded by three siblings beautifully blends elegance and sentimentality. While delicate fine jewellery pieces are included in the range, it’s the designs that speak of their inspiration that we find most captivating.

Having just marked 20 years in business, those inspirations touch on elements of nature, travel, architecture and meaningful symbols that ensure each ring or set of earrings transcends trend whims.

It is perhaps the distinct personalities behind the brand that make these pieces special.

Siblings Zoë Williams, Ruth Sibbald and Morgan Sibbald are still at the helm of the beloved Kiwi label, infusing their unique but complementary ideas into each collection. The three have made their homes in separate countries over the years but manage to entwine their design and business sensibilities into something unique, special and successful.

The three are following in the footsteps of father Douglas, who was a traditional silversmith and goldsmith and had a jewellery shop called Moonbird in Devonport, Auckland.

It was there, amid tools, metals, and precious stones, that the siblings first absorbed the meticulous rhythm of jewellery-making, watching their father turn raw materials into objects of lasting beauty and meaning.

To mark the significant two decades of their own business, Zoe & Morgan has just released new collection ‘Twenty’  with a capsule of archival pieces honouring 20 years of creativity and connection.

We asked Zoë, Morgan and Ruth to share the pieces that have meant the most to them over the years, as well as their favourite pieces from the new ‘Twenty’ collection.

Zoë

“There are so many favourite pieces of jewellery from the last 20 years,” says Zoë admitting she struggles to narrow it down.

“I’ve got to mention the wedding sets my husband Teia and I wear, as they represent our love, and our children have grown up seeing us wearing them. So these hold so many memories and the essence of life.”

A found treasure forms the basis for one of her most loved pieces in the ‘Twenty’ collection, the Paper Nautilus charm and earrings.

“As a young adult, I found a paper nautilus shell on a beach in the far North. We were staying on my friend’s ancestral land, and had an amazing summer with her whānau, and my siblings. It felt like I had found a real life fairy of the underwater world. When we were creating our latest collection I was in a very reflective mood, and wanted to recapture that beauty. The feeling of excitement when you see something in nature that makes you stop in your tracks and marvel.”

Morgan

Morgan agrees there have been many meaningful pieces over the past two decades and says each one is connected to the moment in time when it was created.

“I am really proud of the series of One of a Kind gold rings we made during the pandemic with keishi and baroque pearls. These rings were inspired by the textures of corals I found growing close to the pearls.”

At that time Morgan was doing a lot of diving, often close to pearl farms in remote locations, and also sourcing and buying pearls.

“The series of One of a Kind rings we made with these pearls were very unique, the combination of the texture and gorgeous organic shapes of the pearls was magic for me.”

Morgan chose the Lovers earrings and charm as his pick of the ‘Twenty’ collection.

“This style was hand carved from wax and it really showcases our hand made techniques,” he says. “When we made this piece we also did an incredible shoot where Zoe joined me in Komodo Island in Indonesia, we hired a boat and had a wonderful adventure. That shoot and collection were so iconic for me, I loved it even more because the shoot itself was so much fun.”

Ruth

“Each piece and each collection is always deep and connected to different times and experiences,” explains Ruth.

One of her favourites is the Fides Ring, set with a teal sapphire and framed by baguette cut diamonds, part of the brand’s Modern Love wedding and engagement collection.

“The beautiful and unique aspect to this style is that I work with clients to select a central stone that feels right to them. It can be a variety of colours and cuts and this makes each ring unique.”

She says she is honoured to work with clients who are getting engaged or marking an important moment in their life with jewellery. “It’s a huge privilege to be a part of someone’s journey and know they have this very special ring to remember that time and always come back to it when they see the ring on.”

From ‘Twenty’ she loves the Sunburst pendant, which was originally a design from the brand’s 2017 Palace of the Sun collection.

“They were my favourite earrings, a style that accompanied me to parties and fun moments, always making me feel uplifted,” she says.

“I love that this design has now been reimagined as a pendant. My favourite combination is pairing it with the Eliza chain, though I also love wearing it with my longer Clio chain. As we head into winter in London, it’s lovely to have something that feels special and brings a little shine to colder days.”
