Ruth's Reflections
As welcome in the new year, our designer and co-owner Ruth, reflects on the year that was.
As 2024 draws to a close, it’s an opportunity to pause, reflect, express gratitude and make space for what’s to come. This year, we’ve launched so many beautiful new collections, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created together.
We began with Niña Florestra on April 26th, a collection inspired by Morgan’s time in the Peruvian Amazon. The strength and beauty in these exquisite designs truly touched me. I wear them to every ceremony and event and feel the magic and energy in each piece.
Morgan put so much into this collection, and I can really see it. The more you look at each design the more you see. There are so many tiny and intricate details, woven together with deep meaning and sacred shapes.
In September, we launched our new website, which was a labour of love from our team.
The time, attention to detail and technical knowledge that went into this was huge.
I have a deep respect and gratitude to our team for the mahi they put into it.
The website allows us to expand our creative offering and lays down a foundation for us to connect with customers all over the world. It’s an online world of Zoë and Morgan where we can weave together our story and bring to light collections, beautifully represented by photography and design.
On October 10th, we launched Let the Sunshine In - a collection dedicated to our late father. These designs brought back so many happy memories from my childhood, especially the Joy Necklace. Dad had a wooden Indian printing block of this design in his shop, and I’ve always loved it.
As the days get colder and darker here in London, this collection reminds me to let the light in, filling my heart with warmth.
I’ve found total delight with the hoops. There are so many to choose from and each day, I pick a pair to wear, and the burst of gold under my coat brings me so much joy.
Morgan has explored different shapes and textures in this collection. I know that designing these collections takes months and I am so grateful for his incredible talent and endless ideas.
On October 24th, we introduced Mon Petite, a demi-fine collection in 9k yellow gold with lab-grown diamonds and green sapphires. This was a new direction for us, and it’s been so much fun playing with these beautiful stones. The affordability of this collection makes it a perfect addition, and I’m personally excited to wear the Ensemble earrings this Christmas.
Zoë designed these and I see her so clearly through them. The beautiful and unexpected mix of different shapes put together effortlessly to make a unique and brilliant whole.
And then, on November 1st, we launched the new designs for Modern Love, something Zoë had been working on for a while. These pieces and mindfully crafted in 18k yellow gold and set with a combination of lab-grown and natural diamonds.
There is so much to love about these designs it’s hard to know where to start or even pick a favourite.
I simply want all of them. But I don’t quite have enough fingers!
I’m drawn to the Deco Sun Ring with its burst of happy rays, radiating out from the central diamond. It’s something to behold and be inspired by. It reminds me of a ring our Aunty Rosemary had, adding an element of heritage to the design. I love these bolder rings, proud to be themselves and showing up as they are in this world. That’s how I see them. They are standing in their authentic truth and unapologetically shining in their own brilliance.
I’ll admit, I’ve had mixed feelings about lab-grown diamonds over the years. I’ve always loved the deep, ancient energy of natural diamonds - the history they carry. But I’ve come to see lab-grown diamonds in a different light. They’re fun. They open up so many creative possibilities and allow for a fresh way to play with design. And I’m all about embracing playfulness and joy in life.
I’m so humbled by the trust and support from our community and customers that allows us to bring these ideas to life.
